Untouchable cool

No matter how big your RAM physically is, the Thermaltake NiC series (The lineup consists of the F3, F4, C4, and C5) CPU cooler can stay with your RAM side by side on your motherboard. That is thanks to its proprietary technology. Now your CPU cooler not only delivers superior cooling performance with a low noise level, but also offers the maximum compatibility with RAM. The Thermaltake NiC series C5 offers up to 230W cooling power.

overview picture

  • newegg Offers maximum clearance for your RAMs The new Thermaltake NiC series CPU cooler offers the maximum clearance for your RAMs after installation. Your high-end overclocked RAM now can co-exist with your high-end CPU cooler.
  • newegg Conducts heat effectively, all the way up to the aluminum fins The included thermal grease makes your CPU cooler and CPU contacted seamlessly for fast heat conduction from the CPU to the thick nickel-coated copper base. Heat is then transferred to the five F6mm "U"-shaped heat pipes, while the heat pipes transfer the heat to the aluminum fins.
  • newegg Curved Aluminum Fins In order to reduce back air resistance and maximize airflow through the aluminum fins, the aluminum fins are designed in a curved shape. The 0.4mm-thick aluminum fins also increase the overall thermal dissipation area.
  • newegg Integrated Dual 120mm VR fans The integrated dual 120mm VR fans take cooling performance a step further. All of them are contacted to an adjustable fan-speed knob, which allows you to manually adjust the fan speed from 1000 to 2000rpm. The tool-less fan mounting bracket makes installation easier.
  • newegg Universal compatibility with CPUs This CPU cooler features an all-in-one back-plate design. All accessories are included to support all the latest Intel and AMD platforms (Intel LGA 2011/1366/1155/1156/1150/775 and AMD FM2/FM1/AM3+/AM3/AM2+/AM2).

Features

Features
This new CPU cooler series with non-interference cooling space for the ram and motherboard area, the advancement towards silence, performance and compatibility. Fully compatible with RAM of all kinds, ideally for power users to fill their RAM slots with high-end overclocked RAM.

The new NiC Series coolers solve the problem that high performance RAM and CPU coolers cannot co-exist in the past. NiC series coolers achieve the best RAM clearance allowing user to install high end overclock RAM with coolers with ease.

Heat is conducted from the CPU onto the cooler through the thick nickel coated copper base and then onto the aluminum fins with 5 F6mm U-shaped heat-pipes. This ensures the best possible heat dissipation performance conducting heat effectively.

Aluminum fins are specially designed in a curved shape to reduce back air resistance and at the same time maximize airflow through them. The 0.4mm thick aluminum fins also increase the overall thermal dissipation area.

Both VR fans are contacted to an adjustable fan speed knob where the fans speed can be manually adjusted from 1000 to 2000rpm. A convenient tool-less fan mounting bracket design makes installation easier.

All-in-one back-plate design, the universal socket offers support all latest Intel and AMD platform.

4 out of 5 eggsGood cooler

Pros: 1. Looks good
2. High CFM
3. Does what it is supposed to

Cons: 1. Aluminum
2. Mounting bracket seemed a little clunky attaching (Might be however as I had just spent 2 hours building this rig and this was one of the last things I put in.)

Other Thoughts: I have 4 exhaust fans around this. One 140mm going out the back of the case with this thing pushing air towards it. And 3 120mm on the top of the case with this sitting roughly under the middle one. I think there may be some slight turbulence caused by the config as i can feel air turning on the intake fan for it.

5 out of 5 eggsThermaltake NiC C5

Pros: Powerful with great airflow, I have not had a need to increase the speed much past 2000 rpm.

Cons: Speed adjust cable too short.

Other Thoughts: I wish the speed adjust would reach to the back of the case so I could adjust with it closed.

5 out of 5 eggsVary Competitive

Pros: Vary Competitive against the Cooler Master V8, Much slimmer allowing access to the Ram moduals, quieter on lower fan speed settings, 5 to 10 min install time compared to 40 to 60min. Easy to clean dust, the fans literaly pop out without removal of unit. Cooling supports up to 230Watts. It speaks for its self Untouchable Cooler.

Cons: Fan controller wire could be a little longer and possibly with a bracket, And maybe some LED lighting on the unit., Coolermaster V8 Is just to baulky with little or no change in performance and a pain to install and cant gain access to ram moduals and are limited to how tall of ram moduals. Besides Liquid The Tt Nic C5 Is best way to go.

Other Thoughts: AMD A series FM2 Temps are at idle 26c and loaded on low fan speed settings Example, so far no higher than 34c on Assassins Creed 3, Battlefield 4, Saints Row IV, Depending on what type of case and fan setup/Routings

3 out of 5 eggsDO NOT USE WITH CROSSHAIR V Z

Pros: Honestly I can't tell you anything other than the fact that my idle temp is 33* degrees. Also clears my ram amd radeon gamer series 2133.

Cons: Not compatible with the Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z. I literally had to grind the metal so that it will fit because the Mobos heat sink was in the way.

Other Thoughts: I voided my warranty but i don't care but I will definitely be changing heat-sinks maybe ill go on water.

5 out of 5 eggsVery very nice

Pros: This thing keeps my FX-8350 below 15 DEGREES UNDER HEAVY LOAD. If that in itself does not make you want to buy this I do not know what will. My room is becoming a friggin' penguin habitat it's so cold in here now.

Cons: On max, it is VERY loud. However, I have been running it at about half, which is near silent and it still outperforms anything out there.

Other Thoughts: No issues as of 2 weeks in. Will keep you guys posted.

5 out of 5 eggsPretty cool, pun or no pun, your call.

Pros: -Looks Great
-Easy to install
-Moves some air
-Not very loud at all
-Clears my ram

Cons: -The fans aren't labeled as to which way the air flows. You can figure it out, but I was expecting an arrow on the side like most fans.
-This cooler does clear most ram, however, during the install it tells you to take the fans out of the shell. In order to put them back in, I did have to take one DIMM in and out to pop the fan back into place.
-The manual fan control is silly, it needs to be bypassed.

Other Thoughts: I installed this cooler with no problems onto a Z87 board, socket 1150. I've read a lot of the reviews from this site about this item and numerous people have complained about how insecure this cooler is. YOU'RE DOING IT WRONG! The plates and all the pieces were immovable at a hand tightened level and the actual plate that secures the cooler to the surface of the CPU can be tightened down so much. I used a screw driver to give it the extra half turn and you could pick up the whole board by that cooler. It doesn't sag or anything. It's also just the right size to fit into the NZXT phantom case.
